If deposit has already been paid by the requester, cancellations will result in a drop in your delivery rate. Since the delivery rate will be visible to all requesters, this may affect your credibility as a traveller. To avoid such a situation, only make offers for requests which you are confident in fulfilling.
If a deposit has not yet been paid, there is no penalty. However, please note that non-verified travellers are permitted 10 cancellations per month, while Verified Travellers are permitted 20 cancellations. Cancellations are counted regardless of status being 'Offered' or 'Pending Purchase'. Upon hitting the cancellation limit, travellers are temporarily suspended from making new offers or commenting on “Open” requests. The cancellation limit will be reset and suspension lifted on the first day of the following month. There is no cancellation limit for Super Travellers.
